As we all know, the Industrial Area in Ambala Cantt faced devastation due to recent flooding on July 9, 2023. The area is low lying and there is an earthen bandh around it that had been saving it from water from outside. If water from outside does not enter, then only the rain water collected within needs to be pumped out. Although the pumps today are not adequate but still it does not damage as much as the water entering from outside.
Due to the raising of the Jagadhari highway, first time in 40 years close to 10 feet water entered the Industrial Area as the earthen bandh has now become lower that the road barrier in front of the IA. To overcome this problem, it is proposed to raise a concrete wall all around the IA, with height 2-3 feet more than the highway. Members of HCCI-Ambala are cooperating with HSIIDC Estate Industries Association Ambala to ensure that this project is completed at the earliest. Professor S.K. Mishra, from IIT Roorkee visited the IA on September 6 to survey the area. Our members Dr. Ashawant Gupta, Sh. Suresh Dhiman, Sh. Kapil Verma, Sh. Romi Tandon, and Sh. Dharam Pal along with other IA members showed Dr. Mishra around the entire bandh area along with weak points. DGM Mr. Ajay Bansal and Ex-en Mr. Baldev Singh along with other HSIIDC officials were also present. Prof. Mishra took note of our concerns and has promised to prepare a report with his recommendation by early next month.
