Hon’ble Minister Sh. Anil Vij ji had conducted a meeting with HSIIDC and other concerned departments to prepare a comprehensive plan to save Industrial Estate, Ambala Cantt from floods, which include re-enforcement of existing baandh & construction of concrete retaining wall. All the capital expenditure on the project will be funded by HSIIDC. In this regard, a joint delegation of Haryana Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Ambala) and Ambala Cantt Industrial Estate Association met Sh. Vij and thanked him for his continuous support to Industrial Estate.
Members of HCCI-Ambala along with Office Bearers of HSIDC Estate Industrial Association Ambala have been regularly approaching the Hon. Home Minister and the HSIIDC authorities to strengthen the existing infrastructure so that the Industry does not suffer a loss again. On September 29, 2023 Chairman Dr. Ashawant along with HCCI member Sh. Suresh Dhiman and President HSIDC Estate Industrial Association Sh. D.C. Gupta met MD HSIIDC at his office in Panchkula and impressed upon him that although constructing a RCC retaining wall would be a permanent solution, it is not expected to be completed by next monsoon season, so in the meantime the existing baandh may be strengthened to eliminate chances of flooding. The MD agreed and instructed his staff to take it up on priority and complete the work before the next monsoon.
On October 12, 2023 HSIIDC officials informed us that an urgent meeting was called by the Hon. Home Minister Sh. Anil Vij ji in his office at the Secretariat Building in Chandigarh as there was a proposal from some plot holders that there was no need for strengthening of the baandh and only the RCC wall should be constructed. It was a high level meeting to discuss various problems faced by Ambala industry. The Additional Chief Secretary Industries Sh. Anand Mohan Sharan, Director Industries Sh. Shekhar Vidyarthi, MD HSIIDC Sh. Yash Garg, Director Urban Local Bodies Sh. Yash Pal Yadav and a host of other officials from various departments were in attendance. Sh. Ashish Tayal and Dr. Ashawant urgently went to Chandigarh to emphasize that since the RCC wall cannot be completed in a short period, it would be a disaster if the baandh is not strengthened. We put forth our view strongly and finally good sense prevailed. The best outcome of the meeting came when the ACS agreed in the presence of Mantri ji that the cost of strengthening the bundh would be borne by HSIIDC and it will not be loaded in the annual maintenance charges of the industry as was mooted earlier. So all is good that ends well. We now need to keep an eye on the progress of the work to ensure it is completed within 6 months.
