A meeting regarding laying of CNG and PNG infrastructure in District Ambala was held under the Chairmanship of the worthy Deputy Commissioner Ambala in his office at 10AM on September 4, 2023. CNG is Compressed Natural Gas that is commonly used in cars whereas PNG is Piped Natural Gas. Chairman HCCI Ambala was invited to the meeting through a communication from Jt. Director Industries, Ambala. Dr. Ashawant Gupta and Mr. Kaushik from Glassco Laboratory Equipments Pvt. Ltd. attended the meeting. Officials were present from all government departments.
The Ambala-Kurukshetra section of the pipeline is being built and managed by HPOIL Gas Private Limited (HOGPL), a joint venture company of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Oil India Limited (OIL). It was a worthwhile discussion and the representatives from HPOIL informed about the benefits of Natural Gas. Although use of Natural Gas is not yet compulsory outside NCR region, but benefits with respect to environment and safety in comparison to Petrol/Diesel and LPG, which is widely used by the glassware industry in Ambala, along with cost benefits make it the fuel of choice for the future. Moreover, with the path and pace at which environmental laws in India are moving, one can expect that gas will become compulsory in all of Haryana, sooner than later. So this pipeline is good for Ambala industry.
The parent line from Jalbera to Kurukshetra is already energised and is in operation. A branch line has been laid from Jandli in Ambala City to Saha Industrial Area. This line is not yet energised and is expected to be functional. Many glassware industries are in contact with HPOIL to get connections as soon as the branch line is energised. The DC gave strict instructions to all government officials from PWD, Forest, Pollution departments etc. to be proactive and not delay the permissions required by HPOIL to get this project functional ASAP for the benefit of Ambala District.
All members are urged to take benefit of this new development in Ambala as per their needs.
